Joe Macre; The band he played for Crack The Sky isn't well known to many so I guess the same thing applies to him as a musician but if you play bass you have to listen to how he plays the instrument. He has a unique style that is hard to duplicate, his vision of how a bass should fit into a song is amazing. Amoung the many many things that he is great at is utilizing the singers melody within his bass lines to tie things together, most wouldn't even notice such a thing but he is a master at it. In CTS his partner was Joey D’Amico his childhood friend and musical telepathic partner on drums (also a brilliant musician) and between them they were/are one of the best rhythm sections in rock history even though most don't know who the heck they are.

Here are some examples of my favorite Macre bass work with Crack The Sky and he also has a brand new band called "King Friday" that is very YES like but I don't have that to sample. Joey D’Amico is still CTS's drummer and also the drummer for King Friday. Here are eight prime examples of his greatness (and Joey's) including two live performances which is what CRACK THE SKY was always known for, one being audio and one being video from their live DVD. Hope you bass players like the work of this talented player. Please let me know what you think of the music and his work within. Many Thanks.
